Rob has a long history of working hard to help Toledo grow and prosper. Below is a list of some of these accomplishments:

Economic Development

  • Spearheaded the redevelopment of the former Plaskon site on Glendale for “Toledo Commons”, the largest new retail development in Toledo
  • As City Council President, lead council to redevelop Westgate, and especially Costco, over the veto by the mayor
  • Expanded State Enterprise Zone for Manufacturing in South Toledo
  • Expanded State Enterprise Zone for Reynolds Road and Southwyck Mall Area for business expansion and economic development
  • Expanded the Community Reinvesment Area for Reynolds Corners to spur growth in the area that resulted in business growth and expansion
  • Passed legislation to adjust the “Living Wage” requirement for Southwyck Mall
  • Assisted business development for the Byrne-Glanzman area
  • Obtained funding for drainage construction for the Capital Commons Industrial Park
  • Worked with MCO for infrastructure, development, and expansion of the Hospital and Technology Park
  • Assisted with negotiations with the Ohio Turnpike for easements for the 42 inch water line in South Toledo which save millions of dollars for the city
  • Worked closely with Hospice of Northwest Ohio for their new location on South Detroit Avenue
  • As a member of Toledo Sister Cities International worked to create the Toledo-Delmenhorst, Germany partnership and represented Toledo in Delmenhorst to for  their 100th anniversary of incorporation.  Worked to build economic development and student exchange ties
  • Represented Toledo, Ohio in Toledo, Spain for the 100th anniversary celebration of the first Sister Cities association in the world
  • Opposed the city of Toledo takeover of the BLS transport, which took business from private companies
  • Opposed the city of Toledo creation of a municipally run tow lot which took business from private companies
  • Opposed “Point of Sale,” “Point of Rental” and Land Contract legislation which was home buyer and home investor unfriendly
  • Chaired the Zoning and Planning Committee on City Council in 2006 and 2007, with a business friendly approach
  • Helped create the Reynolds Road Business Association
